Proc SciOR welcomes reports of novel research findings as well as reports of research designed to replicate previously published research, including with non-confirmatory (negative) results.
Proc SciOR accepts only submissions that have aleady been open (non-blind) peer-reviewed — from authors registered with Science Open Reviewed.
Papers are published online as primary articles immediately following editor evaluation and approval of reviewer qualifications, reviewer reports, and routine screening for fraud check and author/reviewer NCOI (no conflict of interest) declaration forms — plus any revision necessary to meet the journal’s formatting requirements and standards of quality for English and data (e.g. figure) presentation.
Proc SciOR also publishes Commentaries from reviewers of primary articles published in Proc SciOR, or articles (wherein the reviewer is acknowledged as a reviewer) published in any other journal. Reviewer commentaries may be critical or supportive of the earlier published article, but must — as judged by Advisory Editors — be based on substantive comments involving refutation, further clarification, extension, modification, or revision of the arguments put forward in the earlier published article. (See also 'Peer Review Process' below).
Peer Review Process
Submissions to Proc SciOR are already peer-reviewed by reviewers registered with Science Open Reviewed, where their reviewer reports are also registered for perusal by Advisory Editors. Reviewers must hold a PhD, or must be registered in a PhD program at an accredited institution.
Reviewers for papers accepted as primary articles have their names and affiliations listed conspicuously—under separate subtitle—directly below the author name(s). Reviewers are also invited to submit a commentary (response paper / opinion piece) inspired by their review of the published Proc SciOR article, or by their review of an article (wherein they are acknowledged as a reviewer) published in any other journal. These reviewer commentaries are reviewed by advisory editors of Proc SciOR, who may also consult with external reviewers. No author fees are charged for publication of reviewer commentaries that respond to primary articles published in Proc SciOR.
Post-publication peer-review is also supported, where logged-in users can post comments on individual articles.
Individual articles are published online as soon as they are ready, by adding them to the "current" volume's Table of Contents. All articles published within a given year will have the same Volume number.
