As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it being considered for publication by another journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word .docx file format.
  • Where necessary, URLs for references have been provided.
  • The text is double-spaced, in Times New Roman 12-point font, employs italics rather than underlining (except in the case of URL addresses), and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at appropriate points rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

* Submissions must connect explicitly with some aspect of the Focus and Scope of the Journal of Critical Race Inquiry (JCRI).

* JCRI accepts original scholarly and creative works. The journal emphasizes the publication of peer-reviewed articles. At the editors' discretion, creative writing, research notes, or unique digital documents may be accepted for consideration.

* A submission must be an original piece that has neither been published elsewhere nor is under consideration for publication with another journal.

* Author(s) name(s) should not appear on submitted manuscripts, nor should names be revealed within the content of the work submitted.

* Manuscripts are to be typed, double-spaced, and in Times New Roman 12-point font.

* Abstract should be a maximum of 250 words and should be included in the manuscript above the main body of the text.

* Article manuscripts for peer review should be 6000-8000 words in length.

* All tables, figures, and images should be labled and placed within the text.

* All submissions must apply the style guide outlined by the American Psychological Association (APA).

* All work must be submitted as a Word Document (.docx file).
